Brookland DC Homes for Sale

Tucked into the northeast quadrant of Washington DC is the Brookland neighborhood. Largely developed in the 1950’s, the Brookland neighborhood is filled with Civil War era forts and land marks.  There is a unique area of the neighborhood called “Little Rome” which gained its name due to the large Catholic institutions located here.  The area is bounded by Michigan Avenue to the north, South Dakota Avenue to the east, Rhode Island Avenue NW to the east and 9^th Street NE to the west. 

While actually situated in Park View, the neighborhood is often associated with the President Lincoln and Soldier’s Home National Monument.  The Lincoln cottage was the President’s get away during his presidency and popular with him since it provided a respite from the political community of his day.

Today, residents love Brookland because it is close to the entire DC vibe, a wide variety of fine arts including Dance Place and is well served by the Red Line of the Washington Metro. Homes are quite affordable here too, the median price of a home in Brookland is about $365,000.  Compared to other neighborhoods, this is quite reasonable.

Tranquil and stately are two words that truly describe Brookland. Whether you walk in the National Monument or reflect in the gardens at the Franciscan Monastery, there is a reflective air about the neighborhood.  History and art complete the unique landscape in Brookland.
